I can face tomorrow
Because he lives
All fear is gone

Clothesline Wars!

Tanner (college son) came out of the bathroom holding a towel and said " what is wrong with these towels?"

I said " don't they smell good?...they were hung out on the clothesline."

Shannon (the hubby) is just sitting there all smug because he knew....he knew...

Tanner turns back to go in the bathroom and I heard him say

"it might smell good but it will take all of your skin off ."

The Hunt That Never Happened

Me: Hey, I want to go turkey hunting with you one time this year.

Shannon: Really? (grinning) O.K....great......do you want to go in the morning?

Me: Noooo....it's going to be way too cold in the morning.  I'll wait till it warms up
some and I need to go shopping and buy a turkey outfit, I like those gorilla suits,

Shannon: Ghilli suits is what they are called

Me: oh....well....I need a ghilli suit, and boots, my boots I have are very old
and I don't think they fit right and I know they are not insulated and I hate it
when my feet get cold, don't you hate it when your feet get cold? And gloves
because if my feet or hands get cold then I freeze to death.  And I'm not
sure about your guns, I need to shoot them and see which one I can shoot
the best and I don't want it to kickback, that hurts, and oh yeah, I need one
of those mask thingies and please don't make me walk very much...you
know the reason I stopped going with you is because you got on to me for
breathing too loud.....geesh.....I have to breathe you know.....hey where are
you going? I wasn't through talking....what do you mean maybe I shouldn't
go with you?

My one and only hunting photo many, many years ago with my Sally Jessy Raphael glasses...ha!

So Grateful...

We all have days and weeks and sometimes months of wanting more,
don't feel like we measure up, want a new car or house or just
go on a vacation with our kids.

But truly, it's not really about that....that's not what any of us really need.

Besides of course having Christ in our life, that will always be number one,
the second greatest thing you can show your kids is love.

Love your kids so much that they don't realize that you're broke, lonely, scared,
depressed, ashamed, weak, unhappy, or fill in the blank.

My parents did a great job of that.

Me and my little brother.....in my church shoes

Sure we had noodles, tomatoes and hamburger casserole once a week
because it was cheap but I thought it was wonderful!

We only ever put $5 worth of gas in the car and ran out more times than
I can count but I thought everyone else did too.

When my Dad brought home a 1920 Volvo, or the Scotch Lumber truck that they had worn out,
or a purple toyota that backfired every time you shifted gears I thought yipee, a second vehicle.

When my sister and I took turns wearing the one "new" outfit......well I'm not gonna lie there was
a lot of fighting over that one..

I thought everyone went on vacation only to see and stay with other relatives.

Me and my cousin at the beach where she lived

I thought everyone spent their weekends playing with cousins in the yard.

I didn't think anyone bought snacks or coke and kept them in the house....the left over biscuits
from breakfast was on the stove all day to "snack" on.

Surely everyone had home made dresses to get their school photo made in.

I was sure two pair of shoes were plenty.....your church shoes and your school shoes.

I'll never forget my doll that talked or Vicki's ballerina doll that danced when you pushed her
crown until I broke her leg off.....I'll never forget because we only got one and played with
them for years.

I thought everyone cut "paper dolls" out of the Sears catalog and old shoe boxes to make
their houses.

I thought how cool it was when we first bought that trailer and it was decorated in Spanish
style with black furniture and red curtains with black fringe and red and black carpet.

You see....the point is....I didn't know that some people would think we didn't "measure" up...
I was proud of my life and my family, but I was not too proud to think I was any better than any one else.
I thought everyone struggled with money.  All I knew was that my family loved me.

A favorite picture of my brother and I

I'm so very grateful for that.

The Gate

Well I did it!!!

I finished the gate to my deck!

I found an old piece of iron fence and my husband welded a bracket on it years ago.

It's been hanging out in one of my flower beds but I love where it is now!

I'm trying to keep my dogs from getting on my deck and my deck furniture.

Hence..(how often do you get to use that word?)......the gate!

Hey how did that dog get in there!

Instead of normal finials I got these owls at Tuesday Morning and used Liquid Nails and it seems to be working fine.

Now all I have to do is....

Paint the french doors and trim

Pressure wash deck

Clean all the furniture

Find an outdoor rug

Fill all pots with soil and plants

Spray paint the coffee table

Teach the husband how to close the gate so dogs won't come in

Replace rotten boards

Win the Lottery

Oh dear.......

The Bug Bite

I'm not normally an alarmist but sometimes I can obsess over the smallest thing.

Case in point.....I've been working outside a lot lately and I came in the other evening and noticed
a big red bite at the bottom of my shin area.

Then all of sudden I've decided that it hurts and looks swollen.

My poor husband comes home from work and just as soon as he sits down I plop my leg in his lap and say "you need to look at this....something bit me."

He is so concerned......I can tell by how he never quits looking at the television....and he squints his eyes like you can barely see it (he must be blind because it's huge!) and he says "probably an ant bite."

Well!!  I say quite loudly in an exasperated tone "It's NOT an ant bite! I know what an ant bite looks like!"

He's still trying to watch t.v.....and I say "feel it.....I think it has fever in it"

Nothing.....nada......I don't think he even heard me.

So I'm limping around and  I imagine that I feel the whole area is swollen and is that bruising around it?

I limp to the kitchen to find some neosporin  to keep the infection from spreading and HE has the nerve to say "hey, if you're in the kitchen could you bring me some tea?"

Ohhhhhh......if he could have seen the look.....

So later after we've gone to bed and he has not asked ONE time about my leg I finally roll away from him and mumble......"if I die in my sleep you can tell them about my bug bite."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And today?...you ask?........the bug bite completely disappeared.......it probably grew inward and is festering beneath my skin.......so if I die.......

Chicken Coop Wars!

So last night after supper I decided to approach the hubby about building a little storage area onto the chicken coop.
Did I mention that I cooked his favorite.....grits, eggs, sausage and toast with a big ole glass of sweet tea?
It went like this...."So, you know so many people talk about what a good job you did on the chicken coop......(he looks suspicious)....and
I was thinking....heehee (flirtatious giggle) that you know how us girls need like a good closet to store all of our clothes and
accessories...(him: You bought the chickens accessories?)...no....silly...(lightly and flirtatiously punching him in the shoulder) not really
accessories (although he doesn't need to know about the chicken saddles I ordered) I mean stuff like their feed and hay.
It would be really easy to do and it could be more area to decorate....I mean...neater out there......andwhileweareatitwecanbuildafence.....what???
.(him: You do know it's turkey season and I'm not doing anything until turkey season is over)  me: of course I wouldn't ask you
to do this during turkey season.....you are the best hunter I know by the way...(him: doesn't believe me look)  O.k....just something
to think about... Me: (mumbling as I walk off) Dang it.....I've got to do this all again in a month and he will have his defenses up...
bad...bad...timing.....get you a calender girl....use your head....this is war you know!

I'm Still Here!

I'm still here.

I lost my mojo for a while....I don't know why.

I'm trying to get it back.

I have been busy trying to build a gate on my deck and sprucing it up some.

Definitely a "before" picture!

Sorry....this is how I work......everything is a complete mess until I completely get through with the project.

The deck is old....really needs replacing but I can't do that yet....so I am going to put a little lipstick on this pig!

I will post pics when I'm through......if it looks o.k....lol

If not then I will put a pic from Pinterest....hahahaha....no....I won't do that.

I went out of town to see a friend and I ate overlooking the Bay.

We could see three of these guys in the marshy grass.

The food was delicious!

I used my husbands truck....boy do I hate doing that.  I have to make sure there are no clothing receipts left on the floor, I have to gather all the candy bar wrappers up and I have to clean the ice cream off of the seat belt.....sheesh!....  I inspected that truck like a crime scene investigator...lol.

In other news......the chickens are great.

They are loving the new growth springing up. I'm a little afraid of my flower beds I'm planning on looking nice.

Everyone is quite relaxed and happy right now.......do you see the kitty?....:)

Back to spray painting my gate......wow....talk about looking like a crime scene!

I plan on covering this area with dirt.

I've got to go......things to do.

Have a blessed day!!
