Super Love

A rescue worker carries a boy on his back as emergency personnel rescue residents from flood waters brought on by Hurricane Sandy in Little Ferry, New Jersey.
( Adam Hunger, Reuters / October 30, 2012

As the devastation of the super storm is aired on television I am reminded of how good our God is and how caring and loving he made his people.

My heart goes out to the people who lost loved ones.

I'm so sad for the ones who lost their homes or businesses.

But I'm encouraged at the attitude of the victims.

Deep down people know that they know that they know that this is all temporary here on earth and what a glorious home we have that awaits us.

It truly is all about love here on earth.

How can we love our neighbor?

How can we love our enemy?

How can we love each other?

As the election is looming I was feeling no love in the air.

Isn't it funny how God can change things so quickly?

A terrible tragedy for sure but the feeling in the air is love.

I pray we can keep it around for awhile.

 Prayers and love..........

Meet Millie

I had a favorite chicken.....her name was Nugget.

She went missing one day...I think she flew out and something got her.

I was so very sad.  We originally acquired 9 chickens....8 hens and 1 rooster.

Nugget stood out at the beginning.

She was so friendly and the only one that would let me pick her up.

Anyway she is gone but not forgotten.

Today, I want to introduce you to Millie.

She is almost friendly.

Some days she will let me pick her up and some days not.

She always acts scared when I pick her up.

I'm determined she is going to be my new best friend chicken.

Have you ever seen Tiny Toons with the little girl named Elmira....that loves her animals....to death?

She hugs them and squeezes them and they are scared to death of her...lol...well I think that is how Millie looks at me.

I tell her "We are going to be best friends and you're going to love me!"......aahhemm (clearing throat)...where was I?

Anyway, Millie loves....I mean loves for me to bring the shovel into the coop.

I will dig in the ground and they will gobble up worms and bugs.

But this day I was trying to scrape back some dirt so my coop door would open easier and she was trying to be a bit too helpful.

 She does this every time.

I hope you enjoy.

Turn Off the T.V!

Lately I've been turning off the television and just listening to the radio as I do my household chores.

I can not tell you how much happier it makes me.

Pick out your favorite music genre and I guarantee you will be more productive and in a better mood as you do your chores.

A fellow blogger has influenced me to start listening to the old movie singers like Frank Sinatra, Doris Day etc.

I've always loved old movies so these songs just make me happy.  I love it!

I type in Crooners on my Pandora and it brings up Standards/Vocal Jazz and for some reason I've been listening to Doris Day Holiday Radio also and it is wonderful.

So I've posted a little video in my kitchen of me cooking and listening to some old music.

I love the sound of cooking and music.

I'm frying some quail (for the first time) and then I put it in the crock pot with a large can of cream of mushroom soup, some heavy whipping cream I had in the fridge and a little water and onions.  It made a wonderful gravy.

I hope you enjoy it!

Clothes Line Wars!

My husband and I have to thoroughly argue   discuss a project  before it takes place at our house.

I beg ask for a project to be done and he has to say why do we need this and I have to come up with good reasons yada, yada, yada.....

So I affectionately title my posts on facebook Chicken Coop Wars and now Clothes Line Wars.

I will fill you in on the Chicken Coop Wars later.

So last week I told my husband that we needed a clothes line...the conversation went like this.

Me:  Dear sweet hubby I would like a clothes line please, please, please?

Hubby:  Let me get this straight.  You have a high efficiency washer and dryer and the clothes are piled up to the ceiling in the laundry room because you can't keep up with the laundry and you want a clothes line???

   Me:  Yes, please.

Hubby:  We don't need a clothes line....it will make the clothes stiff and the dogs would probably tear the clothes down and the dirt and the dust...uh uh...we don't need one.

Me:  That may all be true but you are missing a very important point..........I can make it cute....;))

I can hang bird houses on it and have flowers planted at the bottom of the post with vines climbing up....it will be darling.

Hubby: (blink, blink) sigh.....(he recognizes the look in my eyes and realizes defeat)

 Where do you want it?

"Breaking Free"

Did I tell you that I am doing a bible study called "Breaking Free" by Beth Moore?

It is great and terrible and hard and makes me think deeply and squirm and I love it!

We are learning to "break free" from anything and everything that is holding us back from having the best life in the fullness of God.

I am overweight and have tried everything to lose weight.

I truly believe that this is the way to overcome this and any other bondage in your life.

Not that we have to have the "Breaking Free" study but we need the Bible and Jesus to set us free from our bondage (idols).

IF we are willing to take it.

Last week we studied that there are two reasons we often don't take the exit:    We don't want to  -  We don't feel like we deserve to......

ummmhmmmm.....

We studied how "prayer changes passions".

That's what's  missing.....my prayer life is shallow, I know this.

I want to change this.  I need to make time for deep, life changing prayer.

Beth Moore says that sometimes you need to pray for God to heal your "want to".

 YES!

I say I want to lose weight but I continue making poor choices in my eating habits.

 My "want to" is broken.

"No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it." 1 Corinthians 10:13

 He provides a way out.

That means it's there for us BUT we have to take it.

He's not going to force it on us.

Right now, I'm not going to lie, my eating hasn't changed...yet... but........my "want to" is taking a turn in the right direction.

I hope you all have a blessed day!

Meet Our Animal Family

This is Pook (I know..terrible name...my husband named him). Pook is the oldest of the bunch. He is 10 years old.  My husband bought him for a squirrel hunting dog but he is deathly afraid of thunder, lightning, guns and squirrels...:)

Next is Bucky.  He is the biggest, sweetest baby you have ever seen.  He weighs 100 pounds and he is 7.  My husband dearly loves him and they have nicknames for each other and they have conversations....ummhmm....my husband calls him Hound Dog and Bucky calls my husband Tator.  Did you get all that?  My husband will come inside and say to me "Bucky just told me something" and I say what? and he will say "Bucky said... 'Tator are we going in the truck today?'"....you see what I live with...are you still with me?

Then we have Breesy.  I have two sons and my husband so we had to name her after a football player so we all agreed we liked Drew Brees from the N.O. Saints and that's how she got named.  She is only a year old and she is very funny.  She's always into something.  That's why she has a cut on her head and under her eye.

This is my big Baby Kitty...that's his name...Baby Kitty.  I think it is so funny because my husband doesn't like cats but he tolerates them for me and it's always funny to me when my husband says "Get that Baby Kitty out of my chair please."...haha...I love to hear him say Baby Kitty.

Believe it or not, this is Baby Kitty's mom.  Sambo is her name.  She is so tiny and light and soft....nothing like Baby Kitty.  They are both great mousers.  And they both love to lay in my lap.  I love them.

Next we have Foghorn Leghorn....the longest spurs in the South...that's what he says.  He's a good rooster...he won't eat first...he's always looking out for his ladies.

And this is Lucy.  Lucy is the only redhead of the bunch and the rest of them kind of shun her.  She said they are just jealous of her and she may be right.

These are the Pointer Sisters.  They are always together and singing.  I think they are working on their dance routine right now.

This is Millie.  She has a twin sister Tillie.  They bicker all the time about boyfriends, clothes, etc.

This is Tillie.  She makes Millie mad because she says she is skinnier than her.

And then there is Aunt Bea.  She is so mean.  She has almost been fried chicken many times. She plucks the feathers out of the other hens and they are all scared of her.  I will get a switch after her and she knows I'm talking to her....she will run to the corner and squawk.  She needs anger management.

These are not our roosters.  They belong to my husband's brother, who lives next door.  We call them Jesse James and Billy the Kid...because they are outlaws.  Our rooster does NOT like them.  My rooster and these two will walk 10 paces and turn quickly and shoot crow.  Our rooster says he always wins because he's got the ladies...;)

So there you have it......our animal family.  I hope I didn't bore you too much but I thought you probably needed to meet them because they will be in my blog a lot.  Thanks for tuning in.  Have a great day!

Multiple Personalities

I'm so confused.

I think I read too many blogs.

I want to be a cute little housewife (dieting blogs),

live on a precious farm (farm blogs) with an adorable barn, chicken coop and garden (garden blogs).

I also want to shoot beautiful images with my camera (photography blogs),

and live the simple life (simple life blogs).

I want to can all my vegetables and make my own cheese (homestead blogs).

I want an all white kitchen and white slipcovers for my couch (cottage blogs)

or maybe I want wood walls with a cozy leather couch and plaid curtains (cabin blogs).

I want to live in England, or Switzerland or Australia (out of country blogs).

I want, I want, I want......then I read deny yourself and give all to others (Christian blogs).

Help!! I'm so confused.....I don't know who I am anymore.

I so enjoy these blogs but I need to find a balance of what I'm reading and what is my real life.

I wonder if there is a bloggerholic blog?....:)

Keep The Peace

I have a very busy weekend coming up.

We all get busy.

 Busy, busy, busy.

The busier I get the less peaceful I feel.

I started losing my resolves.....don't eat too much, don't talk so much, don't stress...it all goes out the window as my weekend is spent hurrying from one place to another.

But not this weekend.

I will keep the peace.

I will absorb the love around me.

I will savor the moment.

And I will keep the peace.

A Perfect Morning

I can't explain what a peaceful, beautiful morning it was for me today.

I was doing my Bible study at the kitchen table and I opened the door to the deck.

There were no distractions.....no t.v., no radio.....all was quiet except the birds and my chimes and  I could hear the breeze blowing through the trees.

I felt such a sense of contentment and peace.

I was in awe of God's creation....it's wasn't the Grand Canyon, or Yellowstone Park or any of the Wonders of the World.

It was my back yard with the birds singing and the breeze blowing through the leaves.

It was the sun shining and the dappled shade.

It was peace and joy and contentment.

I believe that anyone can have this peace  and the best place to start is by opening your Bible.

Here is a video that I hope captures what I mean.

A New Diet Plan!

This is my new diet plan!

A little trickery....a little fool the eye!

Just chop your head off and put it on a skinny girls body..lol!

And this is part of the problem.

So, I hope you all have a happy Blue Bell ice cream day today!!....

A Fall Festival!

I went to a fall festival in a small town near where I live.

There is nothing like a small community.

 Everyone knows everyone.

They had some cute arts and crafts booths set up and a lot of food booths set up.

They had  fun rides for the kids.

Did I say good food?  This little engine ran two ice cream makers.

And they had deep fried candy bars!!!

It was almost more than I can take!  Hmmm....what to do??? I would like to try a deep fried candy bar but I dearly love funnel cakes.

Funnel cake it is!!  How can you go wrong with deep fried dough with powdered sugar all over it?

They even had a pig calling contest.

And they called up two pigs.....I'm the one on the left...:)

All in all it was a great day that I enjoyed with my mom and a friend.

I hope you enjoyed this weekend and wonderful weather!

Frames of Friday

Here I am on another glorious fall day!!

I will not sit in front of this computer today.

I will go outside and enjoy the sunshine and watch the squirrels and...

the cute little chipmunks.

I will not eat all of the halloween candy I bought.

I will start eating healthier foods like a salad.

I was trying to come up with the title of my post and I knew I wanted it to be something about frames.  Like, Frames of Friday, or Friday in frames, or Friday Framework....etc.  Did you know that if you say frames over and over again it starts sounding strange?...or is that just me?...:))

Anyway, I hope you all have a fabulous fall Friday full of football, food and fun!

Did I frame that up just right?...heehee...nope that didn't sound right either.

Laundry!

Have you seen the spikey balls that you put in your dryer to make your clothes fluffy?

Some people even use tennis balls.

Well do I have a new product for you!

It's Dryer Kitty!!

No, you know I'm just kidding.

Baby Kitty (that's his name) jumped in there when I wasn't looking.

He decided that he really liked the feeling of a warm, dry pile of clothes and it would be a great place to nap!

You could say this is how you get a "purrrrfect" load of laundry.......;))

Pumpkin Patch!

One of our local schools has a fundraiser where they deliver pumpkins late at night and put them out in your

yard.  Someone pays money to send them to your yard and then you pay money to send them to someone

else's yard.

I love my pumpkin patch!  Thank you CPS Juniors!

Happy Fall Y'all!!
