As I run around on this very cold day, cleaning the warm and cozy house,
getting abundant food prepared for tomorrow..
thinking about how good it will be to spend time with all the family...
eating too much and laughing over "remember when" stories....
I can't help but think "are there people in our own community that will be alone this holiday?
Or maybe not alone but with not enough food to feed their own family? Or maybe not even have heat?"
I wish I knew....I would like to think that I would seek them out and invite them in to our own celebration......
or make sure they had what they needed.
We are all so very blessed and I hope each of you will take a moment to think if you know of anyone that has these needs.
I pray that each of you will have a safe, warm and Happy Thanksgiving!

I often think this at Christmas, all those who have no family or friends to visit, and would love to open my doors to invite them in and hear the stories of their lives. It would make the day even more special to share. xx
Happy Thanksgiving Lisa to you and your family. I too wish I could reach out to others if we only knew who and where they were. We'll be just the two of us ... both my kids are working... they're both single so they're working so others can have the day to be together with their families. I'm sad that another year will go by without my family together but after three years of missing Christmas together I am hoping that we will hopefully be together. It would really make me happy to be able to share this Thanksgiving with others who may not have a warm home, or a nice meal to eat or loved ones around...and it makes me sad that there are so many people out there who are struggling just to get by. Counting my blessings everyday and you are one of those special blessings in my life. Love and hugs and a very Happy Thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving! We have a community dinner on Thanksgiving day for people just like that. People who don't want to be alone or cook all of that for just one or two. We helped start that several years ago and now its off and going strong! They feed almost 100 every year and that's 10% of our population. They even deliver. The home ec class collects food and makes baskets for Thanksgiving for people who might just be having a hard time this time of the year. They pass those out and those who get them have everything they need for a great dinner at home with their family.
To find out who needs help and what they need, all you need do is ask...Hi, my name is...what do you need? Bless you and yours!
Lisa, everything looks so cozy and warm...and what are those yummy looking things on that platter? I wanted to jump right through the screen and devour them!
Our church is part of a feeding program made of other area churches to feed the homeless who live in our town. They receive 2 hot meals every day...about 150 to 200 folks come through every day. As happy as we make our holidays, this is the saddest time for them and it is heartbreaking. It does my heart good to go and help serve them...they are so very appreciative and gracious.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
