Meet the new Roo!
I had decided to name him Rod Stewart but the "girls" are calling him Mr. Fancy Pants so that may stick.
Speaking of the girls.....they are not happy.
Do you see those looks?
Not happy.
They refused to go inside the coop with the rooster.
I heard them say "Did you see his hair....who does he think he is?"
"He thinks he's all that."
He was not helping the situation by prancing around and fluffing his feathers.
So I'm trying to integrate them all and they refuse to go near him and then a thunderstorm comes in.
So I had to run out in the rain and catch him and bring him inside so the girls would go in the coop and get out of the bad weather.
Now what?
So now Rod a/k/a Mr. Fancy Pants is shut up in the bathroom.....please don't let my husband come home.
So after the storm passes we try again.
Come on Tina.....the bad weather is over. Big dog baby is terrified of bad weather.
She is not even my dog....she's my brother in laws' that lives next door.
Now....back to the chicken drama.
Do you see that black hair fluff.......that is a warning fluff.
This is not a happy dance....:(
I had a beautiful rooster before but I had to get rid of him because he was huge and he didn't mean to but he was hurting the girls.
They had no feathers on their backs and one or two of them were limping.
I think he was just too heavy and maybe he needed a lot more hens.
So I gave him to a friend that had 25 hens......so I know he is happy.
I decided to get Rod Stewart because he was so much smaller.
"Can you believe she got rid of John Wayne and brought us Elton John?"
Cluck, cluck, cluck, hee hee hee, cluck.
"Oh ladies!!!.....time to go to bed!"
There are five chickens on top of the board that is not suppose to be a roost.
Sigh......
We'll try again tomorrow.
Stay tuned for the next episode.
Will Millie be the first to have a romance with Rod?
Will her twin sister Tillie steal him away?
Will Lucy's boyfriends sisters mother's son show up....dumdumdum....
Tune in next week...

Oh I just love him! What a cutie! It's so funny to watch how the hens react to a new flock member. I hope things go smoothly! Love all the photos! :)
It is darling. How I wished I could have a roo like that. Gonna share at From the Farm page on FB.
Sometimes you have to sneak new chickens in after dark so they wake up with the new one in residence. Leave them to it. They'll figure it out. Your hens are just trying to maintain their superiority in the pecking order.
He is nice looking, isn't he? Poor hens. A couple of ours must be the rooster's favorite because they are in the same condition. Others are not. ????
I was laughing so hard at this, I had to read it out loud to my husband so he would know what was so funny! Elton John instead of John Wayne....lol....Rod Stewart! lol Mr. Fancy Pants (by the way, look that up on YouTube by Jonathon Coulton....here's a link for one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pko08CUsNI
