Problems....

Yesterday it did not rain.

I did not know what to do.

I couldn't wait to get outside with my camera.

Coopville Diaries is due today and I had no photos.

I grabbed my camera and went in search of the chickens.

I ran outside to find my chickens and the first thing I ran into in the back yard was a 

giant snake.

Where is the photo...you ask?

I turned my camera on and it fogged up inside and out.....did I mention 100% humidity today?

So no photo of the snake........no killing of the snake.....I was looking down at my camera and when I

looked up the snake was gone.

Which made me extremely nervous and them my cat rubbed against my leg and I had to go back inside and change my pants.

So Coopville Diaries will be a little late....

and awwww....ain't that a shame about the camera because now I can't show you

photos of the progress of the laundry room....

let's just say it looks like this....

bahahahahaha....

if you know me AT ALL

then you know it does not look like this...

but let's pretend that it does.

So maybe tomorrow I can get back on track....

An Update On My Laundry Room!

So here is an update on how my weekend went....

A lot of rain!

Like cats and dogs rain!

Like a river in my backyard rain!

I got soaked trying to get Baby Kitty inside.

So I left you Saturday with this mess....

And I've worked 92 hours and have this much organized...

What can I say.....I'm slow.....and easily distrac......oh what a cute top that girl on t.v. has on....

And now that my house is turned upside down and will take weeks to set straight again....my sister is here visiting and we are going to lay by the pool and go shopping all the while pretending like I'm Martha Stewart with a clean and organized house.

If an emergency arises at our home and people show up for said emergency then I will just have to claim "I've been robbed!" "Looters!"  "Look what they did to my house!"

If for some reason you think you need to come by my house in the next week...month...year I will pretend like I'm not home even if you are standing at the door looking at me through the glass.

These are called coping skills..........or denial......it keeps me sane.

So if you will excuse me I'm going to pick my way, ouch, darn boxes....grunt....shove.......streeeeeetch and reach the dryer and get my beach towel and hop, ouch, stubbed toe, ouch, ouch, hop, screeech move table...bam!...knock over books, sigh......turn sideways,...wiggle, wiggle and out the door....yea!

Farm Fresh Feature

Did I ever tell you I was featured on Old Time Farmhouse?

It was the first of June.

I had never been featured before and I really didn't know what I was doing.

I didn't know if I was suppose to put it on my blog also so here I am just getting to it.

Cindy is such a wonderful person with a great blog.

She is always bringing others into the spotlight.

She's had a rough couple of months and she is taking a blogging break right now but be sure and visit her later.

What would you like to share with us today?

Well first I would like to say thank you Cindy from Old Time Farmhouse for featuring me.  

When I told my husband you wanted to feature me he said "you told them we had a farm?"

Haha..(nervous laugh)

So we don't really have a "farm" but we live in the country in a small, rural town in Southwest Alabama on a few acres of land.

I married my high school sweetheart and we have two grown sons.

This was our Christmas card....:)

We also have three dogs, two cats and eight chickens.

Breesy (we call her the "teenager" because she stays in trouble)

And the oldest is Pook (name not my fault...husband named him)

Do you have a name for your farm?

No..I don't have a name for our place but......the chickens do.

We are the Tuckers and they are the.........Cluckers....:)

What country life style are you currently embracing?

Well I blackmailed  asked my husband and boys to build me the chicken coop last year and now we are enjoying our home grown eggs.

I loved decorating the coop and really enjoyed it at Christmas!

It was quite a task (the coop building) and I did an entire post on our chicken coop wars...lol.

Then I cried, begged, pouted asked that he build me a clothesline and he did!

I started canning two years ago and really enjoy looking at the jars on my old shelf and enjoy even more eating the fresh vegetables.

I am currently in the process of building my own raised garden beds. (One of many projects.)

 We cut our own firewood and we cut wood for some of our older friends.

We planted apple trees, fig trees, pear trees, and peach trees.

Do you have future goals?

Yes....a lot of them!

I plan to expand my raised beds and can a lot more vegetables.

I really want to pen in behind the coop and get a couple of goats.

Paint, paint, and paint.....fences, doors, and trim.

I'm hoping to remodel the inside of the house and lighten it up.

Some rooms are good but I'm hoping for a kitchen and living room remodel.

So, yes, a lot of plans.

What do you cherish most about farm life?

All of it!

We love living in a rural area.

We spend a lot of our time outdoors...

I love sitting on the front porch with a glass of sweet tea.

I love that my 3 guys get to share quality time in the woods...

I love riding the dirt roads and seeing views like this...

 and this...

I love that my chickens have a sense of humor on April Fools...

I love the view out my window of a squirrel on my chippy red swing...

My roses in bloom

Boots in the rain....

I love dirt on my hands and the sun on my back...

I love everything about My Ordinary Country Life...

Organizing My Laun....Oooo...a puppy!

So the hubby made a little remark yesterday about my (ahem) organizational skills....

Ok.....I will admit it.....I am not good at that.

But I am an Arteest!! 

 Creative!!

 And very much A.D.D.......had to leave out hyper...that I am not.

I have ideas!! 

Lots of them.....always swirling around in this head.

I have a focusing problem.

Let's scrapbook the children's entire life....yes...let's do that! (the "children" are 26 and 23)

Hmmm.....I need scrapbooks, stickers, pages, glue, scissors....now where are all of their photos....Oh yeah....I think in that closet, under the baskets and boxes....what's in this box.....awww....the boys gave me this necklace a long time ago....I thought I had lost it.......now what else is in this box?...batteries..I'm sure they are no good.....some change....I'll put that in a jug later...I'll just put it on the table here.....this box is cute....I'm sure it would make a good organizational tool....I'm so smart.....now the photos.....hey! there's an extra computer keypad.....I should throw that away because I already have one.....but what if that one quits then I can use this one....I'm so smart....so I'll just put it in the pile with the baskets and boxes....photos...hmmm...photos....wait a minute....here's some....but that is just some....awww...look how cute the boys were.....I sure wish I had put the date on the back of the photos....I wonder how old they were?....But I can't start scrapbooking because I know there are more photos and I want to have all the photos laid out so I can choose what order to put them in....I really should put these buttons in a jar....hey...there's an oil painting kit I was going to do but I can give it to someone as a present...I'm so smart.......

That...ladies and gentlemen...is just a very, small insight into this mind.

So poor, dear hubby said I really needed to organize the laundry room.

So of course I got mad first....doesn't he know that I feed all the animals, cut the grass, take care of the chickens, talk to the chickens, take photos of the chickens, my blog, my blog, my blog, do a little cleaning, pay bills, cook supper....I don't have time to organize....then again...he is right...it does need help....oh I know....let's look up blogs on how to organize.....oh wow...that looks good....that's a neat idea.....I can do this!!!  I will paint everything white, and make a place for every little thing and organize it in a very cute way...I'll show him!!

Eight hours later this is what has happened....

I pulled everything out of closets, drawers and cabinets.

Now I'm tired......my feet hurt......I ain't painting this stupid room.....where do I put all of this crap.....I should throw it all away.....but I really need some of it....I just want to go lie on the couch and watch t.v.

Tomorrow......yes tomorrow......maybe I'll just throw it all back in the closets!

Out of sight....out of mind.

Now let me get to the couch and get my ipad, turn on the t.v.....ahhhh...

Ooooo......look at this cute daybed on Pinterest......I think I have an old twin headboard.....that's it! I'll make this daybed!!!

Now......I wonder where I put that headboard?

Coopville Diaries - Episode 5

Welcome to the latest episode of.........

Coopville Diaries!!

dumdumdum...

After the spa day last week the girls seemed to be very happy and relaxed.

Today was grass cutting day and they love grass cutting day!

They can't wait to see what jumps out of the grass as I go by.

Rod Stewart is carefully watching over his girls as usual.

He is very protective of them.

I think he has forgiven me for kicking him and he has not tried to jump on me anymore.

Natasha (who thinks she is a Russian spy) has convinced Tillie to go in the shed and do some dirty work for her.

Tillie.....don't let Natasha get you in trouble.

So everything was going great until.......

we started having trouble with the girls next door!

We think they are from California.....they're all young and tan and blonde....bleh.

Everything was fine until we heard them playing music...of course it was "they wish they all could be California girls"...and they played it over and over.

And of course our song would be more like...

"Fat Bottom Girls"

And their rooster.......we call him Dude....because he thinks he's a surfer dude.

He spikes his comb as high as it will go.

He was like "Hey Rod...dude....what's up with your hair?"  "It's like narly and so retro....not cool dude...not cool." "You and your fat girls probably like that 70's music too..haha...so old...dude."

But Rod played it cool and looked at "Dude" in his cage with his young, pretty girls.

 As  Rod was walking away he said.. "Hey Dude"  "have you ever heard of that 70's song... Free Bird?" 

And he walked away free into the sunset with a smile on his face.

Well played Rod Stewart......well played.

Before and After for $100 Dollars

My nephew and his wife are young and newly married and expecting their first baby.

Remember those days?

You are so very in love and happy and usually broke...lol.

They are renting a very nice and spacious mobile home and she had asked if we could help her decorate.

And as usual with all of my family's projects, decorate with very, little money.

That is what we do....we go to flea markets, the Salvation Army, we never throw old furniture away...we just reuse and recycle.

Spray paint is our friend.

Renting meant no painting, but we were lucky the walls weren't too bad.

Everything was neutral.

Someone had bought them a dining room table and it was o.k......(it really needed to be bigger) but it is what it is.

So how do you fill a very large space with very little money?

A lot of "custom" which means hand made by us....items.

We also only had two days to do this.

We only have a few before and after photos but I think we made it better....I sure hope they think so too.

She took the before photos with her phone and sent them to me.

We remounted their name plaque on a wider board, the two bird prints were wedding gifts, red frame and metal star wall art were a few dollars at a flea market.

My mom made all the pillows from fabric we bought to make curtains and pillows.

The entry is my favorite.

My sister had an old dresser they weren't using.

I had collected old mirrors every time I went to a yard sale.  We took an old brass and green lamp and spray painted it red and I painted the chevron shade.

We didn't take before photos of the kitchen/dining area but it was a large space to fill.

She still needs a dining room rug and maybe more panels....we ran out of fabric.

We made the picture gallery ledge and made most of her art.  She is going to paint the brackets later...we ran out of time.

The kitchen had no color so we found clearance curtains and we cut out some of the flowers from the dining room panels and glued them to the kitchen curtains to tie them in.

I know this is not the usual fantastic makeovers but we were proud that we did all of this for around $100 dollars and a lot of hard work.

She was so very happy and that was worth it all.
