A Great Weekend!

Wow...I have missed you guys.

My computer quit on me and I just got it back from the repair man.

So I have a lot to fill you in on.

I had a great weekend with "my guys" and even got to spend some time with "the girls".

These are my guys, my husband and two boys.

I'm so very proud of them.

Since I do live with all guys my weekends consist mostly of things like, cutting wood, watching football, fishing and hunting.

I don't mind though.  I enjoy just being with them whatever we are doing.

Of course the dogs, Bucky and Breesy, came along.

They got bored after a while because we wouldn't let them get off the truck and hunt.

We found this guy just hanging out.

We got a couple of loads of wood and we were done.

It was very nice just hanging out and cutting firewood together.

These simple things make me happy.

And after all that time with the guys I really enjoyed hanging out with these beautiful girls at a Christmas plate decorating shower.

 It was so much fun.

This is the plate I made her.....I can't wait to see it fired.  All of that pink on the plate will be a Christmas red....:)

This is the beautiful bride to be with her plate.

She had a Christmas tree set up on a table with Christmas music playing.

They (her and her mother) had ordered pizzas and had cupcakes and chips and dip.

We had a great time!

And this is where I ended the weekend.

In my swing watching my chickens.

  I'll say it again.......what a great weekend!

Finally Friday!

It's Friday....yea!!

I had to work one and half days this week and it just about killed me.

That is all it took for me to remember the days of coming home at 5 exhausted and then have to figure out what to cook for supper, do some laundry, help with homework, feed the animals, pay some bills, take a bath, call my mother, sweep a little, iron clothes for the next day, spend some time with the husband and kids.....whew...all of that in a few hours before you crash into bed. I do remember those days and I can sympathize with those who do this every day.

When you get out of that habit it is hard to jump back in.

Thank goodness I don't have to............yet.  I feel my days are numbered though.

Anyway it threw off mine and my husbands whole routine.

I came home early (thank goodness) and noone had put Breesy (the dog) in her gated area and she was upstairs sprawled out in the middle of my son's bed.

I had to strip the entire bed and do another load of laundry.

Did I tell you we had sandwiches and potato chips for supper?

The poor chickens did not even get their cooked oatmeal (gasp)!

 Dessert was..............halloween candy!

Did the floors get swept?  I think you know the answer to that.

I couldn't even watch the CMA awards because I was in bed asleep at 9 p.m.

It is a lot of work to stay at home and get most things accomplished but ladies, those of you that work full time and then come home and accomplish things,

 I applaud you.

Super Love

A rescue worker carries a boy on his back as emergency personnel rescue residents from flood waters brought on by Hurricane Sandy in Little Ferry, New Jersey.

As the devastation of the super storm is aired on television I am reminded of how good our God is and how caring and loving he made his people.

My heart goes out to the people who lost loved ones.

I'm so sad for the ones who lost their homes or businesses.

But I'm encouraged at the attitude of the victims.

Deep down people know that they know that they know that this is all temporary here on earth and what a glorious home we have that awaits us.

It truly is all about love here on earth.

How can we love our neighbor?

How can we love our enemy?

How can we love each other?

As the election is looming I was feeling no love in the air.

Isn't it funny how God can change things so quickly?

A terrible tragedy for sure but the feeling in the air is love.

I pray we can keep it around for awhile.

 Prayers and love..........

Meet Millie

I had a favorite chicken.....her name was Nugget.

She went missing one day...I think she flew out and something got her.

I was so very sad.  We originally acquired 9 chickens....8 hens and 1 rooster.

Nugget stood out at the beginning.

She was so friendly and the only one that would let me pick her up.

Anyway she is gone but not forgotten.

Today, I want to introduce you to Millie.

She is almost friendly.

Some days she will let me pick her up and some days not.

She always acts scared when I pick her up.

I'm determined she is going to be my new best friend chicken.

Have you ever seen Tiny Toons with the little girl named Elmira....that loves her animals....to death?

She hugs them and squeezes them and they are scared to death of her...lol...well I think that is how Millie looks at me.

I tell her "We are going to be best friends and you're going to love me!"......aahhemm (clearing throat)...where was I?

Anyway, Millie loves....I mean loves for me to bring the shovel into the coop.

I will dig in the ground and they will gobble up worms and bugs.

But this day I was trying to scrape back some dirt so my coop door would open easier and she was trying to be a bit too helpful.

 She does this every time.

I hope you enjoy.

Turn Off the T.V!

Lately I've been turning off the television and just listening to the radio as I do my household chores.

I can not tell you how much happier it makes me.

Pick out your favorite music genre and I guarantee you will be more productive and in a better mood as you do your chores.

A fellow blogger has influenced me to start listening to the old movie singers like Frank Sinatra, Doris Day etc.

I've always loved old movies so these songs just make me happy.  I love it!

I type in Crooners on my Pandora and it brings up Standards/Vocal Jazz and for some reason I've been listening to Doris Day Holiday Radio also and it is wonderful.

So I've posted a little video in my kitchen of me cooking and listening to some old music.

I love the sound of cooking and music.

I'm frying some quail (for the first time) and then I put it in the crock pot with a large can of cream of mushroom soup, some heavy whipping cream I had in the fridge and a little water and onions.  It made a wonderful gravy.

I hope you enjoy it!

Clothes Line Wars!

My husband and I have to thoroughly argue   discuss a project  before it takes place at our house.

I beg ask for a project to be done and he has to say why do we need this and I have to come up with good reasons yada, yada, yada.....

So I affectionately title my posts on facebook Chicken Coop Wars and now Clothes Line Wars.

I will fill you in on the Chicken Coop Wars later.

So last week I told my husband that we needed a clothes line...the conversation went like this.

Me:  Dear sweet hubby I would like a clothes line please, please, please?

Hubby:  Let me get this straight.  You have a high efficiency washer and dryer and the clothes are piled up to the ceiling in the laundry room because you can't keep up with the laundry and you want a clothes line???

   Me:  Yes, please.

Hubby:  We don't need a clothes line....it will make the clothes stiff and the dogs would probably tear the clothes down and the dirt and the dust...uh uh...we don't need one.

Me:  That may all be true but you are missing a very important point..........I can make it cute....;))

I can hang bird houses on it and have flowers planted at the bottom of the post with vines climbing up....it will be darling.

Hubby: (blink, blink) sigh.....(he recognizes the look in my eyes and realizes defeat)

 Where do you want it?
